About the service
As a specialist subcontractor providing Health Surveillance services, I support employers in meeting their responsibilities under Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance for workers exposed to respirable crystalline silica (RCS)—a hazardous dust containing fine particles of sand.
HSE recommends that all workers exposed to RCS should be included in a Health Surveillance program, particularly where exposure is frequent or prolonged. This includes situations where exposure levels may reach or exceed 50% of the Workplace Exposure Limit (WEL).

My Role as a Subcontracted Health Surveillance Provider:
-
I work with employers to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements under HSE guidelines
-
I involve a competent occupational health professional to conduct appropriate assessments, including:
-
Ongoing respiratory health questionnaires
-
Chest X-rays, where recommended by the health professional based on exposure history or risk level
-
Silicosis—a serious and potentially disabling lung disease—can result from both current and historical exposure to RCS. Even with improved dust control measures in recent years, many workers remain at risk, making regular Health Surveillance essential.

Benefits of My Service:
-
Helps employers identify early signs of silicosis and other respiratory conditions
-
Ensures proper documentation and compliance with HSE and RIDDOR requirements
-
Supports a proactive approach to workforce health, protecting both the workers and the business
I’m here to help you implement a compliant, practical, and cost-effective Health Surveillance program tailored to the specific needs of your workforce and industry.
